# Launch a Community on Common

**What is a Community on Common?**

A community on Common is both a coordination hub and source of truth for your web3 community members. A community on Common consists of a crypto-native forum, seamless governance integrations, & more. Check out the [product features](/commonwealth/readme/product-features.md) page for more information.

**Step 1: Selecting Community Type**

Once you are on the “Community Type” page, choose which chain you'd like to create your community on.

The chains that we currently support for token forum creation are:

* EVM Compatible chains (if your don't see yours email <mark@common.xyz>)
* Cosmos
* Solana

**Please Note:** to get the most out of the Common platform we recommend launching your community on Base.

**Step 2: Community Information**

This is the step where you can input the information specific to your community. All of the below information can be changed later.

**Please Note:** The community name that you create during this step will become the community's url. You are unable to change the community url yourself.

In order to change the community url at a different date please email <mitchy@common.xyz>.

***Please note in order to add a new Cosmos chain to Common you MUST reach out to the common team -** Please feel free to message mitchy\_common on Telegram, email <mitchy@common.xyz> or check out our*[ *discord*](https://discord.com/invite/commonwealth)

*Note: If you are unable to create a community, it may be because there is a community already made for the project. To check if this is the case, search the project name in search from the home page.*

If you want to migrate your discourse community to common, please see the page below
